Who knew there was different thread pitches for fire hydrants and associated hoses.
That is a $20 adapter we didn’t have this morning. What we did have was two 50’ sections of the brass fitting hoses on right and a 50’ section of the grey threaded, a call into the warehouse “manager” and he sends a guy out with another nozzle for great thread hose and 100’ grey thread hose. A trip to Plumbers warehouse and luckily the guy knew what’s up, called his old coworkers from 10 years ago, then they said they didn’t have it but another place would. So we got it.
Also other things happened that prevented us from starting, so in 12 hours (8:30AM CST) that House should be in the basement, and digging it out and putting in the boxes.

That... is pretty weird. You’d think there would be a standard or something.

I did not know that.

The great thing about standards is that there are so many of them.

Hey, something I DID know!
But only because I too have had a “what do you mean it doesn’t fit?!” conversation.
It progressed to “are you sure?” “did you check for a burr?” “did you drop the adapter on its threads?” but stopped just short of “put a pipe on the end of the wrench”, thankfully.

This is a bad photo to compare, but the larger of the hoses (the threads shown wouldn’t even thread or cross thread together, they were loose.
We got it all worked out though and it’s all wrapped up.

The problem more likely is where we save a hose like the one pictured when it is slated for demolition on a job, send it to warehouse and after a couple of the jobs add up you have hoses that don’t fit that you don’t know about until I try and put them together.
I’m pretty sure they get rid of these so people don’t try and fight a fire themselves and kill them self doing so. Call a fire department, that’s their job.
